Ryan locked in for front row at Wes Hurst Memorial

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Marshalltown, Iowa, shoe Ryan Gustin made the most of his first Wes Hurst Memorial appearance by capturing Friday's preliminary feature atop the fast USA Raceway 3/8-mile clay oval.

Gustin only needed about one-third of the 30 laps to put himself out front, and then paced the remainder of the field taking the checkered flag first and locking himself into Sunday’s $15,000-to-win finale.

Bobby Hogge, Rodney Sanders and Tommy Myer crossed just behind Gustin and also locked themselves into Sunday’s feature.

Kelly Shryock, Stormy Scott, Derek Ramirez, Johnny Scott, Nick O’Neil and Tim Donlinger rounded out the top 10.
