Race Notes:

Friday: Blooming Prairie, Minnesota’s Tommy Myer turned his first ever trip to the Southern New Mexico Speedway into a flag to flag victory in Friday night’s preliminary 20-lap a-main. Myer took the lead from fellow front row starter Johnny Bone Jr. at the start and withstood a pair of cautions early in the event and then drove away to put his #65 GRT on the pole for Sunday’s 50-lap $10,000 to win a-main. Bone ducked in behind Myer and ran second to the checkered with Bumper Jones third, John Anderson fourth and last year’s winner Johnny Scott, slipped by Kelly Shryock late in the going to claim the fifth and final transfer spot directly into Sunday’s weekend finale. Anderson did not stop on the front straightaway immediately after the checkered flag like the rest of the top five finishes, instead he went to the scale first and was then relegated to the sixth finishing spot, moving Scott up to fourth and putting Shryock into the fifth and final transfer spot into the feature event.

Joplin, Missouri racer Dave Commer won the Legends of the Southwest feature (20 cars).

Las Cruces, New Mexico’s Kenny Medina won the Street Stock feature (37 cars).
