 After practice on Thursday, Ryan and the Gressel Racing team kicked off the 2014 season on Friday night. After making the main event through qualifying, motor problems sacked the squad in the feature race. More of the same on Satruday, but the crew and driver are optimistic as racing resumes Wednesday night at the Winter Extreme. Engine issues continued to plague the team on Wednesday with the #19R unable to qualify for the main event. But it all turned around on Friday night with a stellar effort and a strong racecar. After passing Billy Moyer late in the feature race, Ryan began to work over leader Tim Fuller but wound up a few feet short and had to settle for the second-place paycheck, but happy with putting the mechanical problems behind them. On Sunday when the big money was on the line, Ryan and the team saved their best for last. Strating from the outside of the front row, Ryan took the lead at the start of the race and never looked back, leading all 50 laps to capture the $10,000 top prize and the biggest win of his dirt late model career!

 Had a good qualifying effort and heat race, but missed the mark in the main event where we started third but back-pedaled to a 15th-place finish. Hope to get stronger as the weekend rolls on. Things improved Saturday night. We won our heat race and started on the front row of the feature next to polesitter Billy Moyer Jr. John Blankenship got by for the win while Moyer was third and Ryan finished fourth to score our fourth top-5 in eight races this year. Had a good car on Sunday. In the feature, we were running seventh on the last lap of the feature but a flat tire dropped us to 10th.

 Ryan was be back in his Modified to defend his King of America title Thursday night. He is not among the top 12 in passing points yet, so the team has some work to do on Friday to get locked in to the main event Saturday.

 'The Reaper' looked to improve his qualifying effort on Friday night at the Humboldt Speedway. He finished second in his first qualifying heat race and raced from 12th to 7th in the second. His overall points for the two days leaves him in one of the Last Chance races on Saturday with the top 6 from those going to the "C" Main. The Gressel Racing team has some work to do for a chance to defend the King of America crown.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

 Finished 3rd in Main Event

 Ryan Gustin and the Gressel Racing team made their way to the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., on Saturday to compete for a $10,000 top prize. After setting quick time in his heat race group, Ryan started seventh in the 50-lap main event. His experience in his USMTS Modified at the high-banked red clay oval helped him to shine in the feature race as he charged to the front and challenged for the lead late in the race. In the end, 'The Reaper' settled for a respectable third-place finish behind Ray Moore and winner Scott Bloomquist.

 Ryan won his heat race Friday night at the Davenport Speedway and started seventh in the main event. when the smoke had cleared, Ryan was the fourth driver to cross the finish line. Unfortunately, when he crossed the scales after the race, the #19R Gressel Racing Rocket Chassis was 18 pounds light, resulting in a disqualification. Ouch!

 After struggling in the heat race, Ryan blasted to a win in the B-Main Saturday night at the 34 Raceway. In a stacked main event, Ryan started 17th and worked his way forward to take home a sixth-place finish in the 50-lapper.

 "The Reaper" made it two in a row tonight as he led every lap of the main event at the 81 Speedway near Wichita, Kan. It was his third career NCRA Late Model win and fifth with the MARS DIRTcar Series.

 Thursday - Ryan wasn't able to time trial, so he started 10th in his heat and ended up 6th. He finished 2nd in his "B" Main and then finished 14th in his "A" Main.
Friday - Ryan timed in 40th, finished 4th in his heat and finished 13th in his "A" Main.
Saturday - Ryan qualified for the 26th starting spot in his first Dirt Late Model Dream. Unfortunately, mechanical problems sidelined The Reaper and he ended his night with a 25th place finish.

 Thursday night the Lucas Oil MLRA kicked off a three-day swing at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Initially, the race was halted by a first-lap melee involving at least 10 cars. Some continued, while damage forced others out. After a rough outing in his heat race, Ryan started the 30-lap main event fromt he 15th starting spot, but he didn't stay there long. In the end, 'The Reaper' passed nine cars to wind up sixth at the finish. He scored the Casey's General Stores Hard Charger Award in the process. The Gressel Racing team heads to the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, on Friday.

 In a heavyweight slugfest Friday night at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, Terry Phillips threw the haymaker on Ryan just shy of the checkers en route to a win in the Lucas Oil MLRA Series. When a lapped car slowed Ryan's pace while leading, Phillips slid in front of him exiting turn 2 and then kept 'The Reaper' at bay to the finish. The team wraps up the weekend Saturday night at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo.
