Ryan Gustin and the Gressel Racing team pulled into the Lucas Oil Speedway on Thursday for three nights of racing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the 24th Annual Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 presented by ProtecttheHarvest.com. Despite the the threat of weather all weekend long, somehow all three shows were completed by Saturday night.
Thursday night's "Cowboy Classic" saw Ryan capture a heat race win and then finish eighth in the main event. On Friday, he came up two spots shy of transferring to the main event from the "B" Main, but his two-day efforts set him up for the outside of the eighth row in Saturday's 100-lap, $30,000-to win finale.
Worn by rain throughout the week, the track became extremely rough Saturday, and 'The Reaper' just wasn't liking the way the race car was handling. Unfortunately he wasn't able to make it to the checkered flag and the night came to an early end for the team.
Up next, the team will take the late model north for three days of racing with the Lucas Oil MLRA. Action kicks off on Thursday, June 2, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and then the series invades the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa, on Friday, June 3. The weekend wraps up Saturday, June 4, at the Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo.
