Gustin gets top 10 at King of America VI

Ryan Gustin and the Gressel Racing team visited the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., for three nights this past weekend for King of America VI presented by Chix Gear.

With each of the 106 drivers taking part in four heat races on Thursday and Friday, the best three out of four efforts were used to determine the starting line-ups for Saturday's feature races.

While in staging to go out for his first heat race Thursday, a problem was discovered with the car and the team was forced to roll him back to the pits and unable to start the race. That meant he had to make all three of his other heat races count, and he did. His second heat race saw 'The Reaper' get second from the third starting spot, and on Friday he won his heat to kick off the night and then raced from 11th to sixth in his final qualifier.

After four rounds and 360 laps of qualifying races, the preliminary starting fields were set for Saturday with Ryan ranked 20th in points and starting outside of the fourth row in the "B" Main.  He finished third to transfer to the main event where he started 15th on the 28-car grid.

After 72 laps, Ryan was able to claw his way forward to finish tenth and a $1,400 payday.
