At a track where he has enjoyed a measure of success in the past, the Fourth of July weekend at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Pryor Creek, Okla., did not return the kind of results that Ryan Gustin or the No. 19r Gressel RAcing team had hoped for.
In Friday's action at the 2nd Annual Freedom Classic, Gustin dug his way out of a hole and raced to a fourth-place finish after starting 17th on the grid. On Saturday, a late-race flat tire doomed his chances and left him with a finsihing position of 22nd.
Next on the schedule is the CMH Diamond Nationals $10,000-to-win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., next Saturday, July 11. The one-day event will be a stand-alone show followed by the rescheduled rain-postponed Lucas Oil Show-Me 100 on Sunday, July 12, paying $30,000 to the winner.
