Boney collects first USMTS win at Junction Motor Speedway

McCOOL JUNCTION, Neb. -- Dustin Boney raced to his career-first USMTS victory Friday night as the USMTS National Tour nvaded the Junction Motor Speedway for the opening night of the 8th Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw.

The 29-year-old from Platte City, Mo., grabbed the top spot from polesitter Colt Mather at the drop of the green flag and proceeded to lead all 30 laps of the WIX Filters “A” Main.

A multi-car crash with 11 laps remaining bunched the field, with nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock holding down the runner-up spot ahead of Mather.

Shryock gave chase and closed in on the leader in the late stages of the race but Boney was able to hang on for the $2,000 top prize.

Kyle Berck finished fourth behind Shryock and Mather while Tommy Myer took fifth. Jon Tesch, Jason Krohn, Zack VanderBeek, Chase Junghans and Jason Grimes rounded out the top ten.

Gustin was running third in heat race when he blew a motor, and broken rocker arms on spare car.

Round 2 of the 8th Annual Nebraska Spring Thaw continues Saturday night at the Junction Motor Speedway with the feature winner shooting for $3,000 first-place money.

The first heat race takes the green flag at 7 p.m. with NASCAR Late Models, NASCAR B-Modifieds and NASCAR Stock Cars.
